Viro for Microsoft Teams
IT Setup Guide & Documentation

This guide provides instructions for configuring Viro as a Dataverse for Teams app, including user assignment, setup, and management during the program. Dataverse for Teams is available to companies with Microsoft 365 licenses that include Microsoft Teams.

Before We Begin

This document covers everything you need to ensure a smooth setup, from importing Viro to assigning user access and configuring permissions. Please follow each step carefully to enable your organization to maximize Viro’s capabilities within your Teams environment. Please reach out to nick@viro.app with any questions.

Security

Security in Dataverse for Teams aligns to how security is handled in Teams, with a focus on Owners, Members, and Guests.

[1/7] Select a team to host Viro app

  • Open Power Apps inside of Teams

  • Select Build tab - select a team to host Viro app (create team or recommended to choose IT or Sustainability)

  • You must have owner permissions of this Team to continue

  • Select See All to see all assets of app

[2/7] Import Viro app as a solution

Locate .zip file sent to you by Viro. You received this file through Microsoft App Source, WeTransfer, or by email.​

  • Select Import and open .zip file sent to you by Viro

  • Follow prompts to create connections (O365 Users, Dataverse, Power Automate, etc.)

[3/7] Give all users full access to Tables

  • Select Tables tab then select each tables’ ellipses (…) and Manage Permissions

  • Members, Guests, and Colleagues should be given Full Access to each Table

[4/7] Share access with selected users

  • Open Power Apps inside of Teams

  • Select Build tab - select team 

  • Select Share with Colleagues button 

  • Share with M365 Group, Azure AD Security Group, or create new Viro group.

[5/7] Deploy app to Teams

  • Open Power Apps inside of Teams

  • Select Build tab - select team

  • Select See All to see all assets for app

  • Select Apps tab, highlight Viro app by selecting the checkmark

  • Select Add to Teams

  • On right sidebar, press Download App to create .zip file

  • At bottom left of Teams sidebar, select Apps, select Upload a Custom App

  • Choose tenant name and open .zip file

[6/7] Deploy app to selected users

  • Open Microsoft Teams Admin Center

  • Expand Teams app container, open Teams Policies, Add policy with designated employees

    • If adding Viro to to Global (Organization-wide) skip the above step​

  • Once group is created, expand Teams Apps container, open Setup Policies, select newly created group (or Global group)

  • Select Add Apps in the Installed Apps section, search Viro and add app

[7/7] Pin app to left sidebar of Teams

  • Open Microsoft Teams Admin Center

  • Expand Teams app container, open Setup Policies

  • Add Viro to Pinned Apps section below Install Apps section, press Save

    • Pinned app will take approximately 30min to populate

  • Please email nick@viro.app when install is complete.
